The increasing need to protect the environment, especially in light of the need to address the scarcity of natural resources and climate change, and to ensure a healthy living environment for the world’s growing population with sufficient potable water, fertile soils and clean air, also increases the requirements for effective and sustainable waste management. This affects all countries equally, regardless of their level of development. A large number of countries are therefore currently facing the task of having to initiate a transformation process that will gradually lead from simple landfilling to waste management.
