The increasing need to protect the environment, especially against the backdrop of dwindling natural resources, climate change and the challenge of ensuring a healthy living space with sufficient potable water, fertile soils and clean air for the world’s growing population, also increases the requirements for effective and sustainable waste management. This affects all countries equally, regardless of their level of development. A large number of countries are therefore currently facing the task of having to initiate a transformation process that will gradually lead from simple landfilling to waste management.
On behalf of the German Federal Environment Agency, INTECUS has compiled a collection of information in six languages on approaches to the sustainable design of municipal waste management and on technologies and equipment suitable for this purpose.
